Veteran’s Day

Hey Everyone,

November 11, 2014

Veteran’s Day is coming up. This is an official holiday of the United States of America so that we can take a moment, or a day, to remember those who have defended our country. Everyone gets a day off and during this day, I hope that everyone takes a moment to remember why you have this day off. The Wounded Warrior Project is a leading force in helping these veterans.

Since I am a student ambassador, I receive emails from the Wounded Warrior Project. Their last email talked about what they are doing to commemorate Veteran’s Day. For each day in November until November 11, there is a theme. I know that I am posting this late, but I didn’t get the email till a couple of days ago.

Fundraising at the Palo Alto Farmer’s Market

Hi,

Two weeks ago on Mother’s Day, I set up a tiny stall in the back of the Palo Alto Farmer’s Market. It was a long five hours since I set up the stall at 8:30 in the morning and closed up at about 1:00 in the afternoon, but it was worth it. I sold most of my bags and raised almost $300 dollars. I started off the day with a lady giving me four quarters, but soon gained more visitors as the day progressed. Many people opened up their wallets to give just a few dollars and one man with three little girls gave a generous donation of $120. Every cent counts. It was an amazing experience which I will mostly likely have again tomorrow, Sunday- May 25. With Memorial Day coming up, many Americans will want to support the soldiers who protect our country. The Wounded Warrior Project is a great way to support them. Even President Obama has recently agreed that our veterans are not getting the care they need. They have done so much to protect a country that can’t even help them when they return. This is no way to give thanks. As a student ambassador, I want to make a difference and help these soldiers and veterans. Please check out my WWP website (the link is on the About page) to help fundraise. I would like to give a special thanks to Jennifer from the Palo Alto Farmer’s Market who was gracious enough to give me a space where I could set up my stall.

Second Bag Sold

Hey,

I have more great news. I sold my second bag for a price of $20.00 and another person donated $20.00, but they didn’t buy a bag. Now I have a total of $60 that I have fundraised  so far. I have more bags ready to sell. I have a picture below of my newest bag. The process of creating each bag is different and I am finding easier ways to make amazing bags.

Black hand made bag

Hi Everyone,

My name is Simran Pujji. I am hand-knitting bags to fundraise for the Wounded Warrior Project. The picture below is one of the bags that I am currently selling on Ebay for $25.00. It is on auction starting at $17.50. This is one of the first bags I knitted. I also crocheted the flower. It was a lot of hard work, but in the end, it was worth it.
